"What a Country Boy Knows" is Mike Parrish's second solo album following "Texas in the Man" which was released in 2007. After receiving a 2007 International Fame Games Radio Effigy Award for MOST POPULAR ARTIST, a 2008 International Fame Games Radio Effigy Award for BEST BLUES ROCK ARTIST and a 2010 Academy of Texas Music and Texas Music Awards Nomination for BEST LIVE BAND OF THE YEAR, Mike presents his best work yet with "What a Country Boy Knows." This album also marked Mike's first self-produced project. Six years in the making, the album was released on August 23, 2013, just a week shy of his 50th birthday.
This 15-track project features Mike Parrish's songs and vocals along with world class players such as Sammy Hundley (Parrish-Hundley Band), Alan Dossett (Houston's Ruse), Phil Dalmolin (Dixie Chicks), Frank Debretti (Blake Shelton, Mindy McCready, SheDaisey, Duran Duran, Seal, Vanessa Williams), Kurt Baumer (Lonestar), Tommy Detamore (Kevin Fowler) & Canadian Harmonica Player Roly Platt.
"You know, I was a little slow about gettin' into the music business but then again I've been slow at a lot of things in my life," Mike has often been heard saying. "After all, I've been a Texas Peace Officer for the past twenty-two years and I've just figured out that everybody loves a fireman!"
